Get Out and Vote – Because Homophobia is Always Just Around the Corner

I am so glad I’m not American right now. I’m British, where even our main right wing party is now supporting gay rights and where we should have marriage equality (again down to that right wing party – I know, I’m as shocked as you are) pretty soon. If I were American, I’d be forced to either vote for a man who’s used drones to target and kill his own citizens without due process, totally gone back on closing the human rights clusterfuck that is Guantanamo Bay, and seems to think it’s absolutely fine to extradite foreign citizens for doing things which are perfectly legal in their own countries, which is where they did those things, but at least is good with gay rights and isn’t trying to start a holy war against women, or a man who wants to amend the constitution to ban gay marriage and seems to want to ban abortion too, possibly along with declaring it illegal for women to leave the kitchen (and would probably be even less interested in the legal and human rights of, well, pretty much everyone). I’m not saying British politics is perfect at all, far (far far) from it, but at least our influential political nut-jobs aren’t *quite* as nutty, and voting for a third party isn’t *entirely* a waste of a vote. I’m really, really hoping your country loses some of the scary political craziness soon, I’m scared for you guys, and unfortunately US insanity often has a detrimental effect on the rest of the world too.
