The year was 1994, and at 11 years old, I probably was too young to be watching Doug Savant’s big, gay kiss on Melrose Place. Not that there was anything to see anyway!

Guys, this is what a gay kiss looked like on television in 1994:

On Fox! On a racy, adult program like Melrose Place. Heather Locklear was sexing up her employees in their cubicles on a weekly basis, and Kelly Rutherford literally played a prostitute hired to put the naughty on a husband by a cancer-stricken wife for an entire season, but two men sharing a smooch was seen as “OH MY GAAAAAAWD!” at the time.
