Let's hear it for the boy!

7 year old Malcolm’s mother gave him $140 – twenty for each of his seven years – to donate to the charity of his choosing. After hearing a story on the radio about the unequal treatment and discrimination gays and lesbians face every day in America, Malcolm’s mind was made up.

The seven year old – 7 YEARS OLD, people – decided to split his donation between the Human Rights Campaign and Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center.

His letter reads:

“My name is Malcolm. I’m 7 years old. I’m sending you this money because I don’t think it’s fair that gay people are not treated equally.”

What a guy! Attention homos, this little fella just trumped the heck out of you. If Malcolm is willing to help advance the movement toward equal rights for all gay and lesbian Americans, you should be too. Volunteer your time. Make a donation to your local LGBT non-profit. Make an It Gets Better Video. Just do something.

Are you inspired by Malcolm’s donation? Thankful that the next generation of Americans is growing up in a world where gay rights are a no-brainer? Proud? Tell us how you’re feeling!

Malcolm has said it all. He is an inspiration . . . and an example for us adults.

  • Beautiful!
I’m already going to start doing some volunteering, and this just makes me smile that much bigger. I’m going to make sure that, someday, my children will be as tolerant and accepting as this little hero.

    Go Malcolm! :]

Every time I read any report on this boy giving his money away to help those of different sexual preferences, my heart is given a little more hope for future generations being more accepting about all people. It took the US so long to finally (well, mostly) get over black segregation. We’ll soon have a safe place for persons of different sexual orientations I hope.
