Anti-LGBTQ Hate Group Members Now Represent the United States at the UN

The US State Department chose a lobbying group listed as an anti-LGBTQ hate group by civil rights activists to attend a UN commission on women’s rights.

The group in question is the Center for Family and Human Rights (C-FAM). The Southern Poverty Law Center calls the organization an anti-LGBTQ hate group.

C-FAM’s leader Austin Ruse has called for homosexuality to be criminalized, NBC notes. And despite touting itself as a pro-Christian, pro-family organization, C-FAM has collaborated with Iranian and Chinese government officials in order to try to fight against LGBTQ rights in other countries.

And yet, the US State Department has chosen C-FAM to attend the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women, a global organization devoted to promoting women’s rights.

Once again, Trump has shown that his claim to be pro-LGBTQ is nothing but hot air. Shame on anyone who believed it.

“Listed as an anti-LGBTQ hate group by civil rights activists”
“Civil rights activists” can be literally anyone. You need better sources than that.

Ok so you do have a source, SPLC. Fantastic. I looked into them some. Looks like they may have done some “good work” in the past. I don’t know the details of the court cases so I really can’t say for sure. Most of that seems to have been around the 80’s.

2002 SPLC filed suit against Chief Justice Roy Moore for installing a monument on court grounds with the 10 commandments on them. He was removed from his position and the monument taken down. That’s ridiculous. That is not a civil rights issue so I don’t see how it was SPLC’ s business in the first place.

Not to mention the SPLC is pooling vast amounts of its donation money into an endowment which sat at $303 million as of 2014. An an endowment they fund by focusing on fighting anti-minority groups instead of being issues like homelessness. When 95% of hate crimes are perpetrated by lone individuals with no connections to any hate or militia groups. Not to mention that the kkk has declined from near 5 million members in the 1920’s to less then 3,000 today. They also have a record of being overly generous when handing out hate group status to organizations.

After that long rant I decided it was time to look into C-FAM. Yeah… no. I can’t defend this. Still wouldn’t call them a hate group but I certainly have no delusions about their homophobic agenda.
