Bachmann, Romney, Santorum Sign NOM Pledge to Beat Gay Marriage to Death

On the very same day that the American Psychological Association announced it has unanimously voted to support federal recognition of same-sex marriage – because, hello SCIENCE – the bigots over at the National Organization for Marriage are dancing around waving an idiotic pledge signed by a few of the Republican presidential candidates like a fourth grader who has to pee.

The pledge, signed by Michele Bachmann, Mitt Romney and Rick “frothy mix” Santorum, pledges to use presidential power to basically beat gay marriage to a bloody pulp, scoop it up with one of those doggy poop bags, and then light the bag on fire on GLAAD’s front porch – because, um, cherry-picking religion?

Shocking, we know.

These candidates and this hateful pledge are a joke and a relic. The majority of the country now favors legalizing same-sex marriage. The Defense of Marriage Act has already been labeled unconstitutional by the Justice Department. Gay marriage in alive and well in D.C., and the city has not fallen into a fiery hellmouth.

Lots and lots of people are gay. Lots and lots of straight people adore and respect the gay people in their lives. Get over it.

Return their “right to vote on marriage” – does that mean they have the right to vote on her marriage? ‘Cause I’d really like to show her how that feels.

How can this be? Romney signed the first gay marriage bill into law in Massachusetts for crying out loud! This is just political posturing, deep down inside, he supports marriage equality, but his Church certainly does NOT! Those backwards bastards need some chlorine in their gene pool!

  • This disgusts me. As a straight woman, I feel almost guilty that I could marry any guy-even the shittiest scum on earth-and divorce him, yet my gay friends can’t marry just one person whom they love dearly.

I blame this on antibiotics. This is exactly what happens when natural selection can’t do its work.

so does four include gays or only straights?????????

  • And yet it’s somehow reassuring to see presidential hopefuls making such nicely calculated, get-out-the-vote against them maneuvers. Keep up the good work, guys.

Let’s hope they never get even near presidency.

  • A religion based on the notion of a supreme monarch has no business dominating the dialogue in a modern democratic society.  The two ideas are polar opposites.  Religion does not give one the special right to dictate to those who don’t follow one’s religion.  Period.

it’s all about playing to the lowest common denominator, or what they THINK is so, real politics don’t matter, but get yokels riled up over ‘the gays are gonna molless ma chillrenz’ and they turn out to vote. who cares that their socioeconomic conditions will only further plunge downward, that guy hates gays too, vote for em!  I hate stupid people.
