One Movie Theater is Canceling ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Due to Its Gay Character

Posted on

We learned only a few days ago that Disney would be making history by featuring its very first “exclusively gay moment” in a live-action film. In Beauty and the Beast — which hits theaters on March 17 and stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens — Gaston’s manservant Le Fou (played by Josh Gad) crushes hard after his hunky master. One movie theater, though, isn’t happy about this, and has actually decided to cancel the film’s run on its screens.

And to no one’s surprise, that theater is in Alabama.

The owners of the Henagar Drive-In posted this notice on its Facebook page:

It is with great sorrow that I have to tell our customers that we will not be showing Beauty and the Beast at the Henagar Drive-In when it comes out. When companies continually force their views on us we need to take a stand. We all make choices and I am making mine.

For those that do not know Beauty and the Beast is “premiering” their first homosexual character. The producer also says at the end of the movie “there will be a surprise for same-sex couples.” If we can not take our 11 year old grand daughter and 8 year old grandson to see a movie we have no business watching it. If I can’t sit through a movie with God or Jesus sitting by me then we have no business showing it.

I know there will be some that do not agree with this decision. That’s fine. We are first and foremost Christians. We will not compromise on what the Bible teaches. We will continue to show family oriented films so you can feel free to come watch wholesome movies without worrying about sex, nudity, homosexuality and foul language. Thank you for your support!

For what it’s worth, we can’t really blame Le Fou. I mean, take a look at these rather sexy drawings of Gaston. We’re crushing hard, too.

Oh, and to the Alabama drive-in movie theater: Get a life.

No matter where anyone falls on the side of issues like this, those who espouse the views of the theater are on the losing side .. history shows that when money is involved, those who control it move society. It makes money to show LGBT characters, interracial relationships, POC in better roles, differently abled people in various roles outside just their conditions … so the arc is bending away from the ‘conservative’ side. And it will not be bending back, not for a long time.
