Study Shows Legalizing Same-Sex Marriage Makes Teens Less Suicidal

Bill Clinton: Legalize Gay Marriage

He may have introduced DOMA during his presidential term, but Bill Clinton is making things right by speaking out in support of full marriage equality in New York. The former president is making the gay blog rounds this morning after releasing a statement via the Human Rights Council in support of same-sex marriage.

Our nation’s permanent mission is to form a ‘more perfect union’ – deepening the meaning of freedom, broadening the reach of opportunity, strengthening the bonds of community. That mission has inspired and empowered us to extend rights to people previously denied them. Every time we have done that, it has strengthened our nation. Now we should do it again, in New York, with marriage equality. For more than a century, our Statue of Liberty has welcomed all kinds of people from all over the world yearning to be free. In the 21st century, I believe New York’s welcome must include marriage equality.

Bravo!

  • I’m sorry i won’t believe him unless it really happens. Not only did he put this policy into law but its taken us too damn long to get what is given to straight people. I hate Bill Clinton for this and until it is removed i will still hate him.

    The Human Rights *Campaign*?

  • you know, when the DADT policy went into effect, it was a step forward for equality. Before DADT, GLBTQ individuals couldnt serve in the military at all. This policy made it so that we can serve… as long as were willing to lie about who we are. It was a flawed policy to be sure, but Clinton was actually on our side when he was working on it so quit hating.
