Caitlyn Jenner Accuses Ellen DeGeneres of Turning the LGBTQ Community Against Her

In her new memoir, Caitlyn Jenner reportedly complained that Ellen DeGeneres misrepresented her views on same-sex marriage and made her look intolerant.

A few years ago, not long after she came out as trans, Jenner appeared on Ellen’s show. The conversation turned to politics and LGBTQ rights, including same-sex marriage.

Jenner said, “At first I was not for it. I thought, I’m a traditionalist. I’m older than most people in the audience. I kinda like tradition, and it’s always been a man and a woman. And I’m thinking, I don’t quite get it.”

But, she adds, her views gradually changed over time.

Still, DeGeneres thought that Jenner sounded less than enthusiastic about marriage equality.

“You’re still a little not on board with it,” Ellen remarked.

“No, I’m on board,” Jenner insisted. “Because pretty soon it’s going to be the law of the land. I’m okay with that. I don’t want to stand in front of somebody’s happiness.”

Later, in an interview with Howard Stern, DeGeneres said Jenner’s views about LGBTQ rights were “confusing” and said the Olympian “still had a judgment” on same-sex marriage. DeGeneres added, “Maybe she didn’t want to dance with me because I was a lesbian.”

According to Radar Online, Jenner takes time in her new memoir The Secrets of My Life to drag Ellen for the interview.

Jenner says, “Ellen’s appearance on The Howard Stern Show, where in my mind she even more emphatically took what I said out of context, made it go viral.”

Jenner added, “This discussion further alienated me from members of the LGBTQ community.”

Though we would suggest that Caitlyn Jenner’s long-running support for Donald Trump and her loyalty to the conservative party that keeps trying to deny LGBTQ people their human rights might have something to do with that as well.

  • Aw, Caitlyn, don’t sell yourself short!

    I agree. Jenner didn’t need Ellen’s help to show everyone that she’s a self-involved, fame-seeking, money-grubbing waste of space.

  • Caitlyn you alienated yourself from the gay community so stop trying to blame Ellen!

I’m glad others are also commenting on her. She didn’t represent herself well at all to our community at all. Ellen was nice about it, I would not have been nice about it. She’s a walking contradiction. They had to hire other transgender women to play her “friends” on her so-called reality show. She came off even worse on that show. I won’t read her book. She’s self-involved, has no compassion whatsoever, and her “woe is me” act has been old for a long time. She had every opportunity to be a role model for the LGBTQ community and she blew it. She knows nothing about our community. I’d love to challenge her to see who knows more about the history of gay rights in this world.

No Caitlyn your retention of straight white male privilege and continued practice of misogyny is on you. Erasing rights of other members of the rainbow who don’t buy into your right wing rhetoric of fetishist stereotypes of man woman roles is more than enough reason to dislike you. Narcissism doesn’t look good on you child.
