Donald Trump Likes Gays, But Not Gay Marriage

"I think you're great. But I don't want to see you happily married."

Potential presidential nominee Donald Trump was a guest on Fox News host Greta van Susteren’s program this week. The tycoon-cum-reality television star told van Susteren, “I’m not in favor of gay marriage. I live in New York. New York is a place with lots of gays, and I think it’s great. But I’m not in favor of gay marriage.”

Excuse me? What’s the great part you speak of? Do you just like having them around? (Editor: It’s at this point that I envision Donald Trump doing the backstroke through a giant vault of speedo-clad homosexual men, like Uncle Scrooge McDuck on Disney’s Ducktales.) What’s the great part of your city being home to millions of people who are denied the same rights that you are?

Doesn’t sound so great to us.

For what it’s worth, Trump is currently married to his third wife. So much for the sanctity of marriage.

You’ll recall that Donald Trump defended embattled pageant queen Carrie Prejean after she famously told Perez Hilton she was only in favor of “opposite marriage”, so his feelings on the subject don’t come as much of a surprise. Still, man…sucksville.

Are you disappointed to hear Mr. Trump doesn’t support marriage equality?

  • translation. I like gays, but I love all the gender roles and norms that keep men on top and women subservient. We can’t have gays getting married, because that could rob me of my potential influence and power. The institution of marriage as it stands is used to keep men in superior position to women. So yeah.. he may like gays.. he just doesn’t want to give up any of his power or influence to women, which is the real fear of everyone who is against marriage equality.

  • This sounds to me like the “I’m not racist! I have tons of black friends!” argument, but gay-ified.
