New Poll Shows 53% of Americans Want To LEGALIZE Gay Marriage

Posted on

For the first time in Gallup’s tracking of the issue, a majority of Americans (53%) believe same-sex marriage should be recognized by the law as valid, with the same rights as traditional marriages. The increase since last year came exclusively among political independents and Democrats. Republicans’ views did not change.

This poll isn’t framed around the vague idea of “supporting” gay marriage or “accepting” gay Americans. The expressed purpose of this national poll was to ask if people wanted same-sex marriages to be made the law of the land. There’s nothing wishy-washy about this. The majority of our country now wishes to extend the right to marry to gay and lesbian Americans.

You hear that, Minnesota?

Not surprisingly, young people are hopping aboard the marriage equality train in much larger numbers than our beloved, but often stuck on past prejudices, grandparents.

18-34, 35-54, 55+, same-sex marriage

Welcome to the future. Federally legalized gay marriage is looking more and more like a sooner rather than later thing.

Are you stoked to see these numbers?

  •  It tickles me the liberals arent at 100%…how can you call yourself a liberal if youre against it lol

  •  being for gay marriage isnt a prerequisite to be liberal. same with being against gay marriage isnt a prerequisite to be conservative
