Newt Gingrich: I Cheated On My Wives Because I Love America So Much

I did it for America! Twice.

Newt Gingrich, the current front runner for the 2012 Republican presidential candidate, is running on a Christian family values platform, whatever those are, despite the fact that he has been married three times. Oh, and there’s also the fact that while he was using his position as Speaker of the House to lambaste President Bill Clinton for getting a beej from Monica Lewinsky (RE: Not his wife, Hillary) in the 90’s, Gingrich was also cheating on his wife as well.

But don’t you dare label him a hypocrite. Gingrich suggests the word you are looking for is “Patriot” instead, claiming that his intense love for America made him cheat on his wives. Um…no. That shit’s just not going to fly with anyone, pal.

Gingrich, it should be noted, absolutely opposes gays and lesbians being afforded the right of marriage equality, because…”icky!” He has no problem whatsoever justifying his aborted marriages, and speaks candidly about receiving an annulment from the Catholic Church to dissolve his second marriage, even though he wasn’t a practicing Catholic. Money and political power may not buy happiness, but they sure do buy off clergy and political officials.

What do you think of New Gingrich’s defense for his infidelity? Did the red, white and blue(balls) make him sleep around? And furthermore, do you think there’s any chance in hell that America would elect a twice-divorced president who lied to and cheated on his spouses?

  • Y’know, I think America as a whole is just too damn interested in what goes on in OTHER people’s bedrooms; straight or gay, monogamous or not. If people focused more on improving their own sex lives, news reporters could actually…I dunno…report NEWS?

Um. Yeah, saw this yesterday. Apparently he’s also recently converted to Catholicism (don’t even get me started on the Catholic Church – I’m a recovering Catholic in a 12 Station Program…) and has asked God for forgiveness. I’m guessing neither God, nor the wife he left while she was dying from cancer in the hospital, have forgiven him. I know I haven’t…
