Two Pro-LGBTQ Groups Are Holding a Dance Party in Mike Pence’s Front Yard

Tomorrow night, two pro-LGBTQ groups (WERK for Peace and DisruptJ20) will host a gay dance party in the neighborhood of anti-gay Vice President-elect Mike Pence. Instead of guessing what the party will be like, here’s a few lines from their Facebook event invite:

The homo/transphobic Mike Pence has graciously invited us to shake our booties and bodies in front of/around his house in Chevy Chase. We plan on leaving behind [biodegradable] glitter and rainbow paraphinalia that he can NEVER forget. #WeAreQueer #WeAreHere #WeWillDance That’s right, get ready to WERK it and tell Daddy Pence: homo/transphobia is not tolerated in our country!

The party organizers have offering to carpool people from his neighborhood’s nearest metro station to his actual house, but there’s no mentions of the exact plan, where they’ll be dancing (his front porch?) or whether they’ve secured a permit for the 1,000+ people who have RSVPed. There are however a few hateful comments on their event page; no real surprise there.

WERK for Peace describes itself as “a queer-based grassroots movement that uses dance to promote peace” and DisruptJ20 is a group that aims to disrupt the inauguration through protests and direct actions. We’ve reached out to them for more details and will issue an update if they get back to us.
